My artistic practice is centred around objects, videos, spaces and language.
By combining these elements, I create my installations.
One recurring thread in my work is the relation between man and environment.
Next to my solo-work I have also been collaborating with Melina Hennicker since 2013.
For most of my projects I live and work in spatially and time-wise defined situations.
That leads to an intertwining of my artwork and daily life.
In these experimental situations I can define the parameters. By fully involving myself in the situation, the form and content of my artwork emerge as consequences of a particular setting.
An example for this is “Ein weites Feld” (A broad Field). For this artwork I stayed for three months in a bavarian village, where I constructed a set of rules, mixing my actual reality with a fictional one.
Space has always been an important category in my artistic practice.
I value its capacity to directly affect human bodies, to create immersive situations and as an indicator for the condition and values of a society.
For “BAU” I spent three months in an unheated industrial ruin with my colleagues Melina Hennicker and Andreas Woller. The aesthetic form and content of the work result from our basic needs and the conditions of that particular space.
